The study has been developed through a contract with the BRAC Regional Task Force for inclusion in its "Regional Growth Plan". The new JLUS's focus is on all land contained within a 5 mile boundary surrounding Fort Bragg, Pope Air Force Base, and Camp Mackall. It seeks to identify land that is "critically important" and "important" to conserve from incompatible urban development. The new JLUS was completed and forwarded to the BRAC Regional Task Force in mid March. |

RLUAC Awarded Contract to Conduct Reviews of Proposed Zoning Changes
RLUAC was recently awarded a contract with Parsons, Inc to conduct reviews of proposed zoning changes and new subdivsiions within the five mile area surrounding Fort Bragg, Pope AFB, and Camp Mackall. This assistance is desinged to lighten the work load for the Fort Bragg planners as they plan for the ongoing BRAC related changes at the post. RLUAC's non-binding recommendations should be of assistance to local planning agencies as they seek to plan in a manner that protects the military training mission, the integrety of the Longleaf Pine Ecosystem, and the safety of people living near the fort. |
